Poverty is about not having enough money to meet basic needs including food, clothing and shelter.
However, poverty is more, much more than just not having enough money.
In addition to a lack of money, poverty is about not being able to participate in recreational activities; not being able to send children on a day trip with their schoolmates or to a birthday party; not being able to pay for medications for an illness.
Those people who are barely able to pay for food and shelter simply can`t consider these other expenses.
Where can we find poverty?
Many places around the world have been affected by poverty. It doesn't matter where you are: The United Stated, China, South Africa, etc., poverty is (almost) everywhere, and it's a big problem, not only for the people who are living in inhumane conditions, but also for governments of those countries. The most affected places around the world, as of now, are Sub-Saharan countries (for instance, Burundi, it being one of the poorest nations in the world.), South American countries (Venezuela is a good example, as 80% of it's population lives in poverty), South Asian nations, some countries in Latin America, etc.
What causes poverty?
Essentially, what causes poverty is lack of access to basic services, education and employment opportunities due to political conflicts, inequalities, global warming, and other things.
And finally, how do we get rid of it?
Getting rid of poverty is very much possible, however, it may take a while to fully get rid of it, since it's a game of luck. If we wanna end poverty, we gotta help those in need of it by:
Giving them quality education. Poverty is the number one reason why millions of children are out of school. Yet, education is one of the best solutions to reduce poverty.
Giving them access to health care. Globally, countless deaths could be prevented if affordable health services and interventions were more readily available for everyone.
Giving them water and sanitation. More than a quarter of the world's entire population lack access to safe drinking water at home.
Giving them an economic security, which means people have the skills and resilience to withstand hard economic times and grow their incomes.
Working together on different projects about poverty, because Firstep is about inspiring people to develop their research, communication, presentation, time management, collaboration, and creativity skills, they can make presentations or projects about poverty to make it more aware that it's still a problem effecting many internationally.

In conclusion, poverty is a massive problem in our modern world, but if we take the right decisions and work together, then it will forever go away.
